The Golden Mountain is not just a standalone peak in the middle of Bangkok; it is part of the Wat Saket Ratcha Wora Maha Wihan, an ancient temple dating back to the Ayutthaya period. Originally known as Wat Sa Ket, the Golden Mountain was constructed during the reign of King Rama IV. It was transformed from a chedi with a twelve-sided base into a mountain with a stupa on top, serving as the base for the sacred relics. The construction was completed during the reign of King Rama V and was bestowed the name "Suwannabophit" with a height of 77 meters and over 344 steps.
